just a new photograph

Newish work: This image is part of a series of photographs in which I question the role of family historian many mothers inherit. Below is an image of me in my grandmothers wedding gown (which my mother also wore in her wedding). The dress fit well but could not be buttoned across my broader back-hence I never wore the dress in public. In the following photograph I am attempting to mimic the seams in the clothing with my body. This photograph is one of many in the series Domestic Science; where I aim to take a less emotional, more documentative look at how we preserve and cultivate an identity within the domestic spaces we inhabit. More can be seen by visiting http://www.clairesherwood.com/domestic-science/
